This bold voiced singer from Birmingham in the midlands, started her professional career in 1980 with a band called Ferrari, and later toured with reggae group UB40. This increased her profile considerably, and brought her to the attention of EMI. What’s The Name Of Your game debuted in 1984, then followed Hold On and Once More With Feeling during the summer. A duet on a cover version of The Spinners’ Could It Be I’m Falling In Love with former Linx lead singer David Grant, gave them both much deserved commercial exposure, and a number 5 hit record. During August of 1985, she reached the UK top 10 on her own merits with Round And Around, which was written and produced by the British born former member of Heatwave Derrick Bramble. Then at the height of her success, she toured Asia and was shocked to discover how popular her records were out there, and that her concerts sold out in minutes. She is still very popular in Japan today. Towards the end of the year, Heaven Knows put her back into the charts, then months later she and Grant had another successful duet with the song Mated The hits continued in 1986 with Set Me Free, Breaking Away the title track from her album which had been re-issued since her new found success, and Step Right Up. In 1987 came the ballad Still In Love. Although her chart success had tailed off, she still continued to produce albums. Her fans may well recall the single From Now On in 1989, and Absolute E-Sensual in 1996. She Is currently being managed by her daughter Natalie, and still performs around the world.
